Wondering how to choose boxing gloves? Start with the session you train for. Then compare glove weight, closure and the way the glove fits your wrapped hand. One number cannot answer all three.

1. Choose boxing gloves for your session
Tell your coach whether the gloves are for bags, pads, fitness classes or sparring. These activities do not automatically share the same equipment requirements. For sparring or competition, follow the rules of your gym and governing body before choosing from a product name or an ounce label.
Our current range includes the K-1 DRILL fitness model, VANGUARD training/sparring model, PRECISION competition model and STRIKER models. The name is a starting point. Confirm the actual weight, material, closure and availability on the individual page.
2. Separate glove weight from hand fit
An ounce label describes the glove’s weight. It does not define a universal internal hand circumference. Two gloves with the same ounce label can feel different around the knuckles, thumb and wrist.
Try the glove with the wraps you normally use. Your fingers should settle into the chamber without having to force your hand into position. Make a comfortable fist and check that the thumb position and closure work for you. If the fit causes pressure, numbness or restricts a normal movement, stop using it and ask for help.
3. Choose a closure you can use consistently
Velcro is practical when you need to take gloves off between rounds or drills. Lace-up takes more time and usually another person to secure the closure. Neither closure guarantees that the rest of the glove will fit your hand.
Compare K-1 STRIKER (Velcro) and K-1 STRIKER (Lace-Up) by their listed specifications and your training routine.
4. Check the details before ordering
- Confirm the listed material and glove weight.
- Check the closure and your ability to fasten it.
- Read the current stock or back-order status.
- Ask for a missing measurement rather than assuming “standard” fits everyone.
- Check the returns guidance before testing equipment.
DOOM’s women’s glove-fit research explores questions about hand geometry and athlete experience. It is early research, not a validated size chart or a claim that a dedicated women’s range is already available.
