Boxing glove weight is shown in ounces, but that label is not a complete size guide. Choose the required weight for your session and check the internal fit separately.
What does “oz” mean on a boxing glove?
Ounces describe glove weight. A 16oz model is a different weight specification from a 10oz model; the numbers do not tell you a universal hand size or how the padding is arranged. There is no DOOM hand-circumference chart validated across the current range.
Ask about the session first
Bag work, pad work, fitness classes, sparring and competition can have different requirements. Ask your coach which glove weight and glove format are accepted. Do not assume that a heavier glove is always appropriate, or that a product labelled “competition” is eligible for every event.
Competition rules can depend on the governing body, event and athlete category. Use the current rules and the organiser’s requirements. This guide does not replace a competition equipment check.

Check fit with your normal wraps
Use the wraps you normally train in when assessing a glove. Check knuckle room, thumb position, the ability to make a relaxed fist and the way the closure fastens. The same ounce weight can feel different in another model.
If a label says “standard”, do not treat it as a measured range. If you need chamber or cuff dimensions, ask us before ordering. We will not turn a bodyweight chart from another manufacturer into a DOOM size promise.
